A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

Victory also means he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led commentators to question if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early chances in a close final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
